Norma Horrighs

NORMA JEAN HORRIGHS Norma Jean Horrighs, daughter of Clifton and Bethel Rosa Griffin, was born, February 7, 1932 in Whitefield Township, Illinois. She departed this life, Friday, December 30, 2011, in her home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years, ten months and twenty-three days. On September 25, 1955 in Peoria, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Earl E. Horrighs, Sr. and to this union six children were born. Together they shared forty-six years of marriage until his passing on December 13, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wanda Mae Ricca and Madeleine Marie Bella Malloy; a brother, Eugene Bell and a great-grandson, John Malcolm. Survivors include her children, Roberta McKinney and husband Bruce of Rockport, Texas, Walter Horrighs and wife Rhonda of Girard, Illinois, Norman Horrighs and wife Twila Mae of Hartville, Missouri, Earl Horrighs, Jr. and wife Susan of Camdenton, Missouri, Michael Horrighs and wife Stephanie of Camdenton, Missouri and Gary Horrighs and wife Cheri of Isanti, Minnesota; twenty grandchildren, Barry McKinney and wife Jan, Sarah Moses and husband Daniel, Stephen Horrighs, Daniel Horrighs, Brian Malcolm, Jamie Malcolm, Brande Tucker and husband Dave, Erin Wilson and husband Travis, Craig Horrighs and wife Kirstin, Earl "Tres" Horrighs III and wife Whitney, Joe Horrighs and wife Melinda, Sophia Marr and husband Matt, B.J. Garcia, Randell Sackett an wife Courtney, Emily Ferrell and husband D.J., Elizabeth Kaus and husband Jonathan, Eric Horrighs, Jessica Horrighs, Jeremy Craig and Cody Horrighs; twenty great-grandchildren, Mark and Scott McKinney, Violet Moses, Lee Ann, Iris, Elizabeth, Katie and Lilly Malcolm, Matthew, Hannah and Luke Tucker, Lane and Lillian Wilson, Grant Horrighs, Gavin, Griffin and Grace Marr, Emma Joyce Ferrell and Rylen and Aven Kaus; extended family members, Sean and Jim Linville, Pam Horrighs and Sue and Cory Parks; four brothers, George Perry Griffin, Wesley Wayne Griffin, Robert Lewis Griffin and Francis Eugene Griffin; two sisters, Helen Elizabeth Griffin and Marian Lee Griffin Meinert and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Norma was raised in Peoria, Illinois and attended school there. After her marriage to Earl, they made their home in Girard, Illinois. In the early 1970's the family moved to Lake of the Ozarks. Norma Jean was a life-long cook. She cooked for First Baptist Church of Camdenton, Camdenton Lions Club, Green Side Country Club in Camdenton, Country Kitchen and A&W as well as numerous other places. She worked until the day of the accident that caused her decline in health. She was a member of the Camdenton Lions Club. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards and entertaining company. She especially enjoyed hosting the Griffin Family Reunions. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. She touched many lives through her loving nature and the food she cooked. Her memory will linger on in the hearts of those who loved her. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home. A second service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Staab Funeral Home, Springfield, Illinois with a visitation from 9-11a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and left at the funeral home or mailed to P.O.
