Peggy Juanita Britt, daughter of Arthur L. and Mary Viola Gorman Mitchell, was born, June 17, 1939 in St. James, Missouri. She departed this life, March 4, 2022, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-two years, eight months and fifteen days. On February 7, 1959 in St. James, Missouri, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Russell Leroy Britt and to this union three children were born. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage before his passing on August 2, 2012. She was preceded in death by husband, Russell L. Britt; her parents, Arthur and Mary Viola Mitchell; her son, Russell E. Britt; her brother, Arthur E. Mitchell; two sisters, Mary E. Taber and Viola V. Radcliff; two brothers-in-law, Donald D. Radcliff and George C. Taber and her niece, Christine Eiskant. Survivors include her two daughters, Kim Pearson and husband Bobby of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Vicky Denny and husband Les of Camdenton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Robert Pearson and wife Amy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mitchell Pearson and wife Sarah of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Russell Heth Britt of Oneonta, Alabama, Morgan Stake and husband Michael of Lebanon, Missouri and Taylor Denny of Camdenton, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Peggy was born and raised in St. James, Missouri. She worked at the Shoe factory in St. James, at Eddie Bauer in Montgomery, Alabama and as a secretary in Oklahoma City. She was a cashier at Wal-Mart in Camdenton, Missouri for sixteen years before her retirement. She had repeatedly received the fastest scanner award at Wal-Mart during her sixteen years of employment. Shoppers that came thru Peggy’s line, were always thankful for her smile and kindness. Peggy had always worked hard and would tackle anything, for example, she taught herself how to type. Her pride and joy, was being a stay-at-home mom when her children were little and being the best wife she could be. The kids loved coming home to the smell of homemade bread and cookies. Her homemade chicken and noodles were legendary! Peggy was saved at the age of thirteen at the Christian Church in St. James. She literally broke a record for never missing a day at church when she was a little girl. She was a devoted Christian woman and attended the Family of God Church in Camdenton, Missouri. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, crocheting, needlework, refurbishing old furniture and baking. She loved celebrating her favorite holiday, Christmas, and had many beautiful decorations that she proudly displayed. She was a loving mom and a very devoted grandmother and later great-grandmother, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the many dear memories she created for her family and friends. She will live in our hearts forever. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Internment will be at a later date in St. James Cemetery, St. James, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or ASPCA and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
