Peggy Ann Moulder

Peggy Ann (Wood) Moulder (78), of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 4, 1947 to Robert O. and Wilma Jean Wood in Warsaw, Missouri, Peggy was the fourth of seven children, and raised near the Climax Springs and Spring Valley areas. Always considered a Daddy’s Girl, Peggy was a hard worker, a good student, and an excellent basketball player while attending the Climax Springs Schools. She loved spending time with her family and friends, attending services at the Cable Ridge Church of Christ, and especially listening to Elvis Presley music.

When Peggy was 15, she began dating Billy Joe Moulder, who would become her loving life partner for the next sixty-plus years. After two years of dating, the pair was united in marriage on August 9, 1964, the summer before Peggy’s senior year of high school. When asked years later why they married so young, Peggy stated simply, “Because we wanted to… and (with a wink), I was very mature for my age.”

Peggy showed that maturity shortly after she and Joe were married, when her younger sister Susie was seriously injured in a car accident during the winter of Peggy’s senior year. With Susie and their mother Wilma Jean at the hospital in Springfield for several months, Peggy and Joe moved back into the family home, with Peggy taking over the household chores like cooking, cleaning, and helping to raise her younger siblings until their mother could return. Still very young herself, Peggy never complained, she simply did what needed to be done. This dedication to family served to further strengthen the incredible bonds between Peggy, her parents, and her siblings.

In 1967, Peggy and Joe had their first child - Tracy, followed by Matt in 1970, and Brad (the happy accident) in 1977. A wonderful mother and an excellent cook, Peggy was a loving homemaker, and was always right by Joe’s side as he built his business and their young family’s new home. When Tracy, Matt, and Brad entered school and began chasing their own dreams, she was right there as well, with unwavering guidance and support.

The Moulders were, and still are, a very sports-minded family, and Peggy was a huge part of that. She and Joe helped their children practice, and cheered them on proudly during games. Peggy helped shuttle them wherever they needed to go, washed the dirty uniforms, and made sure they had whatever they needed - most of all, their mother’s unquestioned love.

In 1982, Peggy began what would become a 30 year career at the Camdenton Public Schools, first as a special education paraprofessional, and eventually as the administrative assistant to Process Coordinator Dave Tyler. Peggy loved working at the school, where she was adored by colleagues and students alike for her kind and caring nature. People always commented about how sweet and helpful she was, but probably even more than that, about how she was always so “put together” - with perfect hair, makeup, and nails. Peggy was an incredibly beautiful woman inside and out.

Peggy and Joe loved to travel, making regular trips with their pop-up camper. Most of the time they would take the kids along on these adventures, but once in a while, Peggy and Joe would escape, just the two of them, for an anniversary trip or other getaway. Peggy’s favorites, of course, were their trips to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.

After her children were grown, Peggy gained immense joy from her role as “Nana” for her grandchildren. Always with a playful, yet many times ornery nature, Peggy was loved deeply and adored by all of her family and friends.

Peggy Ann (Wood) Moulder was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Moulder, parents Robert O. and Wilma Jean Wood, and her brother Terry Walker (wife Donna).

Peggy is survived by her loving children - daughter Tracy Crabtree (husband Tandy), son Matt Moulder (wife Christy), and son Brad Moulder (wife Beth). She had nine grandchildren: Rachel, Preston, Katie, Ann, Ty, Zoey, Morgan, Addison, and Annie.

She is also survived by sisters Betty Keltner (husband Garry), Susie Grider (husband Ray), Nancy Henderson (husband Larry), and Bonnie Taylor (partner Phil Coopy), along with brother Bobby Wood (wife Carla), in addition to a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.
