Phyllis Marie Hughes Phyllis Marie Hughes, daughter of Fred and Elsie Smeltzer Dickerson, was born, August 13, 1937 in Iola, Kansas. She departed this life, Sunday, October 20, 2019, in her daughter’s home, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years, two months and seven days. On November 12, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Ray E. Hughes and to this union four children were born. Together they shared forty-eight years of marriage before his passing on February 22, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Hughes; her parents and three brothers, Barry, Larry and Eddie Dickerson. Survivors include her four children, Chris Hughes of Climax Springs, Missouri, Sherry Griffin and her husband Mark of Wichita, Kansas, Renee Sparks and husband Ed of Camdenton, Missouri and Regina Anderson and husband Lee of Kansas City, Missouri; her nine grandchildren, Kayla Hughes, Caz Hughes, Amanda Dake, Drew Dake, Andrea Gohagan, Kyle Dake, Lindsey Hughes, Christopher Hughes and Jesse Hughes; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Dickerson of Derby, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Phyllis had lived in the Climax Springs area for forty plus years. She had owned and operated two restaurant’s and then sold them to take care of her husband when he became ill. After his passing, she became a cook at Camdenton R-III School for many years and then later went to work at Climax Springs School as a cook. Phyllis was saved at a very young age and was a member of Ozark Bethel Chapel Church. She loved her church and was a very active member. In her spare time, she loved to cook. She was an expert at making fudge. Phyllis loved listening to Christian music, especially blue grass. You could often find her outside drinking a cup of coffee and just enjoying nature. She was a kind and gentle soul and lived her life for her Lord and her children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00, a.m., Saturday in Potter’s House Church, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will follow in Mose Clark Cemetery, Climax Springs, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America and left at the church or mailed to Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, 15 Clint Avenue, Camdenton, Missouri 65020. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
