Ralph Norman Carter, 83, of Camdenton, MO died August 27, 2020 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. He was born at home February 18, 1937 in Eldon, Iowa to Ralph Lloyd Carter and Flossie Mae Brown Carter. Ralph was a graduate of the 1955 class of Eldon High School in Eldon, Iowa. After graduation, Ralph joined the U.S. Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic and served in Wiesbaden, Germany until June 1959 as a Reciprocating Engine Mechanic. After returning from service, he worked for Strother Construction in Eldon, IA and Rockwell Standard in Fairfield, IA. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Eldon, IA. He married Joyce Glotfelty on July 8, 1961 in Memphis, MO. They lived in Eldon, IA until 1963 when they moved to Hacienda Heights, CA where he worked at Quick Thread in the City of Industry, CA for two years. Ralph also worked at Diamond International Calmar Division as Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor from 1966-1976. Later on in 1976, the couple returned to Iowa where he worked for Yellow Freight Trucking. They then transferred to Chicago, IL where he continued to work as a truck driver from 1977-2001. In August 2001, Ralph retired and moved with his wife Joyce to Camdenton, MO near Lake of the Ozarks. Both went to work for CRW at Porto Cima Jack Nicklaus Golf Course, where Ralph worked for 10 years and while also working at Lakewood Resort in Osage Beach, MO. Ralph loved living at the Lake of the Ozarks. Many hours were spent on the lake on his “Tri” pontoon boat out enjoying the beauty of the lake, watching eagles, and eating out at the restaurants on the lake with family and friends. Ralph, his wife Joyce and his friends were also part of the Shoreline Clean Up. Ralph enjoyed basketball and baseball games and loved attending many Angels, Dodgers and Lakers games. He enjoyed camping for several years with the Lazy Daze Motor Club. He loved bowling with Calmar and the school teacher leagues and square dancing with Joyce with the Buckboard Bouncers. He also served as a Little League Coach. They enjoyed several cruises, trips to Italy, Germany and Switzerland and playing cards with friends and family. Ralph spent many hours putting together over 200 puzzles with his neighbor Bonnie. He glued many puzzles together and a few are displayed at the Dogwood Animal Shelter and a couple at the Eldon Depot Museum in Eldon, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Naomi Starr, Ruth Bussey, Gladys Carter, Delores Harding and seven Carter brothers: Kenneth, Gerald, Nicholas, Rex, Thomas, Richard, and Arthur. He is survived by his wife Janet Joyce Glotfelty Carter and they celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary on July 8, 2020. Ralph was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday September 5th at Potters House, 2073 S. Business Route 5, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation at 10:00am, Services at 11:00am with Military Honors, followed by lunch served at the church. Services and burial will also be held at a later date in Eldon, Iowa. Honorary Pallbearers, Jack Carter, John Carter, Wendell Carter, Allan Porch, Craig Proctor, Dale Proctor, Mark Proctor, Alex Smith, Ben Smith, Todd Smith, David Steele, Dean Wilde, Aaron Yeager, Bradley Yeager, Devin Yeager, Nathan Yeager In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Potters House in Camdenton, Missouri or to the Eldon Depot Museum in Eldon, Iowa in memory of Ralph Carter.
