Ray Edes

RAY EDES Raymond Ralph Edes, son of Arvid Ralph Edes and Julia Ada "Emily" Carlson Smith, was born, September 14, 1961 in Duluth, Minnesota. He departed this life, Monday, May 12, 2008 in his home, Climax Springs, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, seven months and twenty-eight days. On July 30, 1987 in O'Fallon, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Diana Sue Hastings. Together they shared the past twenty years. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Emma Carlson and his paternal grandparents, Alta and Ralph Edes. Survivors include his wife, Diana of the home; four children, Melanie Bradshaw and husband Alan, Scott O'Dell and wife Heather Strong and Shawn Edes all of San Diego, California and Joshua O'Dell of Climax Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren, Alana Apaez-O'Dell, Alexander Bradshaw and Shalia Edes all of San Diego, California and Paige O'Dell of Climax Springs, Missouri; his mother, Emily Smith and husband C.J. of O'Fallon, Missouri; his father, Arvid Edes and wife Margaret of Williamsburg, Kansas; a brother, Mike Smith and wife Holly of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters, June Balcom and Cindy Benisch and husband Jon all of O'Fallon, Missouri and Sharon Turner of St. Peters, Missouri; a mother-in-law, Norma Hastings of Camdenton, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was raised is O'Fallon, Missouri, attended school at Fort Zumwalt High School and later served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he made his home in San Diego, California where he worked as a tow truck driver. He worked for, Kearny Mesa Towing and A&B Towing all through AAA in San Diego. He moved to the lake area in 2000. Ray made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Union Southern Baptist Church in Decaturville, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed racing cars, fishing and working on cars. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He made many wonderful memories for his family and friends and we will treasure those memories and miss him greatly. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Missouri River Hospice and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
