Rex was raised in Elkland, Missouri and attended grade school there. He was a graduate of Marshfield High School in the class of 1963. He was always a farmer while working a variety of different jobs. He became a sign painter and owned Diehl Signs for a number of years and later worked for Thomas Associates ARCH Lumber Company. He was a jack of all trades and a master of many. He could look at something someone else would consider junk and turn it into a useful tool. He was spending his retirement raising a variety of chickens and guinea and making rustic benches and furniture. He was saved later in his life and was a faithful and active member of Elkland Independent Methodist Church. In his spare time, he loved gardening. He enjoyed trying to see how early and how late he could get his multiple gardens to produce. He also enjoyed sharing his harvest with family and friends. He considered himself an amateur chef; always wanting people to taste his latest creations. He loved to barter with friends and neighbors and traded services and goods often. He was a jokester and loved pulling pranks and laughing with others. He was a very self-less man who was always available to help others in need. Most of all, time spent with family and friends was important to him. He was many things to many people. We celebrate his life and will treasure the fun and wonderful memories he created for his family and friends.
