On November 17, 1984 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Kay and together they had 2 children. They shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. Rarely spending more than a day apart. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, son, Richard Leon Birdsong. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer “Kay” Birdsong of Osage Beach, Missouri. Daughter, Karrie Boze (Doug) of Linn Creek, Missouri, granddaughters, Shelby Boze of Columbia, Missouri and Reese Boze of Linn Creek, Missouri, brother, Terry Birdsong (Diane) of Albemarie, North Carolina, sisters, Debbie Birdsong-Ickes (Pete) of Osage Beach, Missouri and Laura Estabrooks (Andy) of Columbia, Missouri, brother-in-law, Ron Loyd (Joyce) of Austin, Texas and Randy Jones (Cheryl) of Milford, Virginia. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Richard was born and raised at the Lake of the Ozarks. He made the decision to serve our country and joined the United States Army in 1970 where he proudly served for 3 years as a heavy equipment operator. He returned home after his service and continued to operate heavy machinery in construction. In his spare time, he loved spending time gardening, having water fights and playing with his granddaughters, Reese and Shelby. During hunting season, or when it was warm enough to fish, you could find him outdoors. Richard had a big heart and would drop everything to help anyone. He was a loving and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home and no services will be held.
