Richard Crosby Counce, son of Charles Alva and Clara Izola Crosby Counce, was born February 11, 1931 in Hayes Center, Nebraska. He departed this life Friday, October 28, 2016 in Laurie Care Center, at the age of eighty-five years, eight months, and seventeen days. On December 5, 1954, Richard was united in marriage to Phyllis Hutton, and to this union two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Fielding; and a nephew, Brently Nitsch. Richard is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; a daughter, Taunya Goss and husband Danny, of Camdenton, Missouri; a son, Mitchell Counce and wife Judy, of Dodge City, Kansas; grandchildren, Andrea Laue, Seth Wahlert, and Dirk Wahlert; great-grandchildren, Dakota Wahlert and Wryker Wahlert; a brother, Dwayne Counce and wife Josie, of Palisade, Nebraska; a sister, Laryce Nitsch, of Castle Rock, Colorado; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Dick was a graduate of Hayes Center High School. He was drafted into the United States Army where he attained the rank of Corporal in two short years. He was honorably discharged and returned to the family ranch. He operated the cattle ranch and farm until 1977, at which point he became an auctioneer and opened an auction house in Franktown, Colorado. He later worked for the Natural Resource Conservation Service in Dodge City, Kansas, where he won numerous awards for his field planning, which included terraces, waterways and tree plantings. Dick moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2005. He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene in Camdenton. He was also a sixty-one year member of the American Legion, and was a past member of the Elks Lodge. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed trap shooting, coyote hunting with his favorite Greyhounds, fishing, and playing four-point pitch. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he created for his family and many dear friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at New Life Church of the Nazarene, Camdenton, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the STAFF Animal Care Center and left at the church. Online condolences maybe left at www.alleeholmanhowe.com.
