Robert Ayers

Robert Ayers; aka, Bobby, Grampa, Dad, and Friend In the early morning of March 4th, 2013 Robert Ayers passed away at the age of seventy-two from Defused Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma. Although his loss to his family and friends is traumatic, his loss to society and the world is greater, for Bobby was a kind and generous man, always thinking of others and putting their needs before his own. He believed in the truth at any cost to self and made amends for mistakes that he had made. He offered his advice when asked, and gave support and encouragement to anyone trying to better themselves. He was never rash in his decisions and held his temper well. He did not judge others, but accepted them for who they are. His love for life, family, and friends was obvious to anyone who had met him. He shared his wisdom that he had learned through accomplishments and mistakes that he had made in his life. He was strong on all of these beliefs and was not afraid to put you in your place when acting a fool. Bobby, born Robert Duane Ayers in Joliet, IL, formerly from Bloomington, IL, and currently of Camdenton, MO, to Howard Vance "Jack" Ayers of Lebanon, KY, and Gussie "Merrill" Ayers of Funks Grove, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother's Jack Eugene Ayers, Walter Barney Ayers, and son Mark Elmer Ayers. He is survived by his wife Carol "Reed" Ayers of Camdenton, MO, daughters Andrea Lois "Ayers" Herrold of Shawnee, KS, Elizabeth Ann "Ayers" Eddy of Leawood, KS, sons Timothy Robert Ayers of Overland Park, KS, J. Reed Smith of St. Roberts, MO, John Edward Smith Jr. of Friendswood, TX, Jerold Ray (Toad) Smith of Camdenton, MO, brother Harry Edwin Ayers of Bloomington, IL, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece's, and nephew's. At Bobby's request he will be cremated by Allee Holman Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri, and his remains will be returned to his wife Carol and son Jerold until the time of Carol's passing at which time husband and wife will be laid to rest at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, IL. Although his wishes were to have no services at this time, there will be a gathering of family and friends on Memorial Day Weekend in his honor at the home of Jerold (Toad) and Toni Smith's, where he and his wife currently reside to celebrate his life. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
