Ronda Louise Smith

Ronda Louise Smith, daughter of Franklin and Mildred (Yeates) Orwig, was born February 1, 1944 in Kankakee, Illinois. She departed this life Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, nine months, and twenty-eight days. On January 2, 1965, Ronda was united in marriage to William “Bill” Smith, and to this union one son was born. Ronda was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Michael Smith, of Orlando, Florida; two brothers, Allen Orwig and wife Marla, and Gary Orwig and wife Joyce, and a sister, Judy Mau and husband Randy; a number of nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Ronda spent her younger years living in the Kankakee, Illinois area. She was a graduate of Herscher High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Following their marriage, Ronda and Bill purchased Hyd-A-Way Cove in Camdenton. They owned and operated the resort for over thirty years. She also spent many years working at the Camdenton Medical Center as a Lab Technician. Ronda had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the Methodist Church. In her spare time, Ronda enjoyed working jig saw puzzles, reading, and being outdoors. She enjoyed traveling to the Gulf of Mexico and collecting many beautiful seashells. While Ronda’s failing health took many things from her, it never took her sense of humor and her ability to share a laugh with others. Ronda was a loving mother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.
