Steven Douglas Bentley, son of Donald Bentley and Ardath (Cowles) Bentley, was born on October 23, 1941 in Glendale, California. He departed this life, March 27, 2022, in Gravois Mills, Missouri at the age of eighty years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debarah Bentley; sister, Sandra Black; and his parents, Donald Bentley and Ardath (Cowles) McBride. He is survived by his three sons, Michael & wife Stacy Bentley of St. Charles, Missouri and their children Adam, Katie, Anna, Samuel, and Caleb, Craig & wife Heather Bentley of Davenport, Iowa and their children Cole and Cora, and Jon & wife Jenny Bentley of Camdenton, Missouri and their children Hannah, Noah, Sean, Owen, Lily and Flyn; and his significant other, Ellen Bozich. Steven was a loving father and grandfather and was cherished by his many friends and family members who will all truly miss him. Steven was raised in Glendale, California, where he would graduate from Herbert Hoover High School and attend a local community college. He then transferred to Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he would obtain his bachelor's degree in business. In March of 1963, he entered the Army where he served for six years and was honorably discharged in 1969. On July 12, 1969, he was united in marriage to Debarah Ann Barkema and to this union, three children were born. Steven served as a Boy Scouts Park Ranger in Iowa, a Corrections Supervisor in Missouri and in various other management positions in California, Iowa and Wisconsin throughout his working years. He made profession of faith and was a devoted member of the Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, kayaking, boating, hunting, gun collecting and traveling. Throughout his life, he was a member of the Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie, Missouri, American Legion, Boy Scouts of America and C.A.D.V of Camdenton. He was also the treasurer of the Lake of the Ozarks Stop Human Trafficking Coalition and Range Master at John Page Shooting Range. Steven truly enjoyed helping others in need, and even earned the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1989 while living in Iowa. He was a loving and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Ozark Chapel United Methodist in Laurie, Missouri. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to C.A.D.V or Lake of the Ozarks Stop Human Trafficking Coalition. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
