Steven Kays

STEVEN KAYS Steven Alan Kays, son of Truman Oliver and Dollena Mae Kaiser Kays, was born, May 26, 1948 in Stover, Missouri. He departed this life, Saturday, July 4. 2009, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of sixty-one years, one month and eight days. On June 2, 1967 in Camdenton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Cullen and to this union two sons were born. Together they shared the past forty-two years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Donna Kays of the home; two sons, Patrick Kays and Bill Kays and wife Deana all of Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Justin King of Lebanon, Missouri, Larissa Marie Kays, Savanna Renee Kays and Brady Alan Kays all of Camdenton, Missouri; a brother, Kevin Lee Kays and wife Vickie of Deepwater, Missouri and other relatives and many friends. Steven was raised in the Stover, Missouri area and attended school there. After his marriage to Donna, they moved to Malden, Missouri where he attended Technical School and studied welding. They later moved to Sedalia, Missouri where Steven worked as a welder and supervisor for DeLong Steel Company. He later did welding for the boat factories in Lebanon, Missouri. He went on to work for Vernon Jeffries and Forbes Developing as a heavy equipment operator. Some time later, he did residential construction in Osage Beach, Missouri. He retired from the City of Osage Beach after twelve years of service as the Street Supervisor. Steven was saved at an early age in a Baptist Church and followed the teachings of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association and was very enthusiastic about drag racing. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid gun collector. He very generously supported the Missouri Sheriff's Association and the local animal shelters. Steven was a talented musician and enjoyed playing and listening to Bluegrass music. He had the possessed the talent to play the guitar, fiddle and other musical instruments. In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and camping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
