Thelma 'Nanny' Treat Carney

THELMA "NANNY" TREAT CARNEY Thelma Louise Treat Carney, daughter of Thomas and Mary Maddox Waterfield, was born, May 10, 1914 in Moberly, Missouri. She departed this life, Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Windsor Estates, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of ninety-six years, six months and thirteen days. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Joanne Miller; a husband, Major Jesse Treat and two sisters, Lucille King and Nina Arnz. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Hastings of Camdenton, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Debra Marler and husband Bryan of Camdenton, Missouri, Donna Salsman of San Diego, California; Diana Edes of Climax Springs, Missouri; Darla Meyer and husband Donald of Jonesburg, Missouri, Robert Miller of Oakville, Missouri, Linda Cavanaugh of Imperial, Missouri and Cindy Wilson of St. Clair, Missouri; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. Thelma was raised in Moberly and Overland, Missouri. She later moved to the St Louis area. She moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1964. She loved children and spent many years as a nanny and a child care provider. She made a profession of faith and was a member of Union Southern Baptist Church. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Camdenton where she ran the nursery for over fifteen years. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, crocheting and babysitting. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Decaturville. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
