She is survived by David Thomas, her husband of nearly 60 year; son Jeff of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Katherine of Boulder City, Nev.; three brothers and six grandchildren. In recent years she served as Vice President of the Camden County historical Society and Archivist of the Camden County Museum. She was a regular Election-Day poling-place volunteer for Camden County, and was the President of her homeowners association, Villas at the Shores of Camelot. Earlier, while residing in Capistrano Beach, Calif., she was President of the Old Mill Pond homeowners association. Born Valerie Gail Boyle in New Jersey, she was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in History. While residing in Upper Arlington, Ohio, she was docent at the Ohio Historical Society, and board member of Buckeye Boys Ranch, in which capacity she directed major fund-raising projects including a professional tennis tournament on the National Tour.
