Vera N. "Dean" Lloyd Vera N. "Dean" Lloyd, youngest daughter of Vernie and Erma Davis, was born on November 27, 1926 in Bronaugh, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, March 22, 2014, at home in Camdenton, Missouri at the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and sister, Lois Zafuta Oneilio. She is survived by her children Rob Lloyd and wife Valerie of Hastings, Nebraska, Teresa Faust and husband Bill of Holden, Missouri, Debbie Noland and husband Louie of Camdenton, Missouri and Connie Stephan and husband Steve of Lake Winnebago, Missouri; a sister, Shirley Young, Independence, Missouri; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She graduated from high school in 1944 then moved from her childhood farm to Kansas City, where she found work at Pratt & Whitney. It was on a blind date to a dance that Dean met her future husband. Dean married Bob Lloyd on February 5, 1948. After living in Kansas City for ten years, they decided to leave city life and head for clear blue water. They built their first home at Lake Lotawana in 1958, where they raised their four children, teaching them to enjoy all that lake life had to offer. This love of water has been passed on to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dean loved all the aspects of lake life. However, her first love was singing. She had a song for every occasion - she truly had a song in her heart. She was a member of Sweet Adelines for over 30 years - the City of Fountains Chorus and the Kansas City Chorus. Spring was always a busy time for Dean, learning her music and choreography for the upcoming singing competitions. She enlisted family and friends in helping her create the many costumes that went along with those competitions. From the first sound of that pitchpipe to the cut-off sign from the music director, Dean's face beamed with anticipation of another 1st place medal! Oh, and the Sweet Adelines shows - more costumes, more choreography, and more joyful noise!! Dean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a caring friend and neighbor. We celebrate her life and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
