VIRGINIA “GINNY” LONG Virginia Francis (Ginny) Long, age 92, departed this life peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri where she had been a resident since December of 2011. Ginny was born August 21st, 1923 to Oscar and Beulah Garbe of Yakama, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronald Eugene (Bud) Garbe and Gary Garbe. She leaves to cherish her memory two children; a daughter, Jacilynn Carla Woods and husband, Jack of Moberly, Missouri, and a son, Michael James Long and wife, Phoebe of Camdenton, Missouri; seven grandchildren; Jeptha Powell, III of Climax Springs, Missouri, Heather (Powell) Schake and Trent of Columbia, Missouri, Carlie (Powell) Wilson and Alan of Moberly, Missouri, Erin Powell and Christopher Seek of Springfield, Missouri, Jessica (Long) James and Jason of Dodge City, Kansas, Jonathan Cain and Kristen Goldsberry of Osage Beach, Missouri, and Kristen Brooke of Springfield, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren, Justin, Melody, Madilyn, Molly, Jareth, Josie, Lexi, Mackenzie, Penelope, and Viola and countless extended family and friends, whom she cherished. Ginny was a loving lady with many diverse talents and willingness to share them with others. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting (Afghans for all!), and was skilled seamstress in her younger years. She loved various styles of music and Willie Nelson most of all! Some of her many endeavors included owning and operating a dry cleaning store in Redondo Beach, California, farming in Iowa, owning and operating the Blue Summit Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri, and in her later years was a home health caregiver in Yakama, Washington and Camdenton, Missouri. Virginia moved many times throughout her life but always made her faith a priority. She loved and believed the best of everyone, especially her family who could do little wrong. She knew no stranger and vigorously shared the love and hospitality of Jesus with everyone she met. Ginny was known as the “Sonshine Lady” at Lake Family Church in Camdenton where she attended for several years. Her sweet smile, tender heart, and words of wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri is assisting the family with their arrangements.
