Wanda Calvert-Brown

WANDA CALVERT-BROWN Wanda Lou Calvert-Brown, daughter of Albert Nelson and Gertrude Bookhout Raines, was born, January 8, 1941 in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life, Sunday, September 1, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-two years, seven months and twenty-four days. On July 27, 1960, she was united in marriage to Feryl Birdette Calvert and to this union one son was born. Together they shared nearly thirty-five years of marriage before his passing on July 21, 1995. In October of 2001, she married Forrest Alford Brown and shared the past eleven years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Birdette; a sister, Peggy Cable and a brother, Thomas Raines. Survivors include her husband, Forrest A. Brown of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Todd Calvert and wife Michelle of Iberia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Calvert and Chelsea Calvert, both of Greenview, Missouri, Sean Smith of Macks Creek, Missouri and Matthew Smith and Sierra Smith both of Iberia, Missouri; a great-granddaughter, Aliyah Calvert; two brothers, Bob Raines and wife Janet and Ronnie Raines and companion Stephanie Fields all of Versailles, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Lynda Raines of Lake Ozark, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Wanda was raised in the Laurie and Versailles area. She was a graduate of Versailles High School in the class of 1959. After getting married to Birdette, they made their home in Kansas City until 1970 then moved to Camdenton. She and Forrest made their home in Laclede County. She was a homemaker and a crafter. She worked at the Yankee Peddler for many years. Wanda was raised in the Methodist Church and reaffirmed her faith and was baptized in the Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Lebanon. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting. She made many beautiful pillows, dolls and knick knacks. She was a hard working farm girl at heart. She enjoyed bottle feeding calves and all kinds of work around the farm. She was an excelled square dancer. Most of all, being with her family brought her joy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. She touched many lives and her memory will linger on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013 in First Christian Church of Lebanon, under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
