WILLIAM R. "BILL" "BUCK" TROXEL William R. "Bill' "Buck" Troxel, son of Harold Albert and Jean Katherine Ludman Troxel, was born May 6, 1945 in Atlanta, Illinois. He departed this life Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in the Harry S. Truman Veteran's Hospital, Columbia, Missouri at the age of sixty-five years, four months, and sixteen days. On February 16, 1969 in Brunswick, Georgia, Bill was united in marriage to Lola Carol Bruce and to this union two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike Troxel; and one sister, Carole Lee Troxel. Bill is survived by his wife Carol, of the home; his daughter, Jeanne McIntosh of Linn Creek, Missouri; son, Billy Joe Troxel of Linn Creek, Missouri; his grandchildren, Kayla Rose McIntosh, Ian Clancy McIntosh, and Seth William McIntosh, Chantz Wade Troxel, and Bowdy William Troxel; a sister, Becky Troxel, of Illinois; Brother Tom Troxel of Texas; his cousins, Sharon and Rosie Wycoff of Rockaway Beach, Missouri and Nancy Fishburne of Atlanta, Illinois; other relatives and many dear friends. Bill entered the United States Navy at the age seventeen and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the "Sea Wolves." He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1971 and went to work for G.E. in Bloomington, Illinois for nine years. He worked for Caterpillar in Pontiac, Illinois for three years before going active in the National Guard. He served in the National Guard until 1994, retiring as Sergeant First Class. He and Carol bought Bucks Docks later in 1994, owning and operating if for fifteen years until November of 2009. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #886 in Pontiac, Illinois and also served as a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts Troop 79 in his earlier years. Bill was an avid deer hunter and crappie fisherman. He liked to work on antique automobiles and enjoyed playing Mah Jong on his computer. Buck also donated as much time as possible to working at the Dogwood Animal Shelter during the winter months. Bill was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother, and cousin. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. A memorial visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Full military honors will be conferred at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Dogwood Animal Shelter and can be left at the funeral home the day of the visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
