WILLIAM A. HAYS, JR. William A. Hays, Jr., son of William A. and Anna Pratt Hays, was born September 24, 1921 in Berkley, California. He departed this life, Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, ten months and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara and a sister, Elizabeth Burns. Surviving are his children, Randall Hays and wife Doretta of Coos Bay, Oregon, Candice Rhinehart and husband Jeffery of Aurora, Colorado and Deborah Berryman and husband Michael of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; beloved friends, Charlie and Connie Martin of Montreal, Missouri and Joy Summers of Preston, Missouri and other relatives and many friends. William was raised in California and attended school there. After graduation he began a career with the United States Air Force that spanned twenty years. He was retired as a Major, having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He then worked as a pilot for United Airlines. He lived in various places throughout the United States, retired in Denver, Colorado and moved to the lake area twenty-one years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Illinois. In his spare time, he collected automobiles and was an airplane enthusiast. William was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2007 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Reverend Don Allen officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dogwood Animal Shelter and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
