Zelma Lorene Bowles Zelma Lorene Bowles, daughter of John and Rella (Jones) Stafford, was born, May 23, 1930 in, Laquey, Missouri. She departed this life, Sunday evening, January 19, 2020, in her daughter, Sharon Dickerson’s home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years, seven months and twenty-seven days. On May 18, 1947 in Richland, Missouri, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Carl Richard Bowles and to this union they were blessed with three children. Together they shared nearly seventy years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Bowles: her daughter, Connie L. Rakes; her son-in-law, Terry Dickerson; her grandson, Christopher R. Dickerson; a brother, Marvin Stafford and a sister who passed in infancy. Survivors include her children, Carl Lewis Bowles of Laquey, Missouri and Sharon Kay Dickerson of Camdenton, Missouri; her grandchildren, Carl David Bowles, Jeffrey Bowles, Melissa Bowles, Allen Rakes and wife Shonna of Camdenton, Missouri, Leann Selander of Camdenton, Missouri, Aaron Dickerson and companion Lydia Beanland of Camdenton, Missouri, Deanna Bass of Bokeelia, Florida, Jaclyn Peters and husband Dennis of Camdenton, Missouri; fifteen great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Dwight Rakes; a brother Marion Stafford and wife Helen, of Laquey, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Lorene was raised in the Laquey area and was a graduate of Richland High School. Following her graduation, Lorene met and married Carl Bowles. They made their home in Richland for a number of years before moving to Camdenton to make their home. Lorene made a profession of faith and was a member of Union Southern Baptist Church in Decaturville. She was a member of the South Highway 5 Women’s Club for many years and enjoyed the time spent with the other members. In her spare time Lorene enjoyed gathering with friends and family, playing music, riding her four-wheeler, camping, fishing, cooking, gardening and traveling. She was a devoted homemaker to her family and was a hard worker. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 27, 2020 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Idumea Cemetery, Laquey. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of the service Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Idumea Cemetery or the American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
